In green and leafy Maadi, one of Cairo's suburbs very popular with westerners, you can find a very neat little bookshop tucked away on the ground floor of Building 71 in Road 9, one of Maadi's main thoroughfares. The BookSpot has thousands of new and secondhand books in English for both adults and children, and also has a small section in Arabic. They have their whole catalogue online at www.bookspotonline.com and they deliver all over Egypt at reasonable rates. One of the problems I had when I first came to Egypt was finding books to read - I wish I'd known about this place then! The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English (and a selection of other languages) and they know their stock. It's just near Baskin & Robbins so that's another plus, and there's also a Costa's Coffee in the building next door so it's a nice spot to spend a bit of time. I'm sure you'll be able to browse for ages and find something to keep you entertained on your travels.
