The Mangrove

Bophut. On the airport road between Bophut and Big Buddha Cuisines: French

About

This well-known -- and well-promoted -- fine French restaurant sits up near the airport. Famous not just for its food but also its romantic atmosphere, Mangrove lies on a quiet stretch of road. The open-air dining area overlooks eponymous mangrove forests and echoes with the sounds of the jungle. The place is run by a young (but experienced) Franco-Belgian couple who go to great lengths to please all palates; the menu changes monthly to cater to the oft-returning expatriate clientele. For a starter, try the crab salad, followed by roasted salmon with lime butter sauce, or the delectable seared tuna. Do also ask for the daily specials. Don't scrimp on dessert: Try the rich chocolate mousse and follow it up with a Rum Ginger, their signature after-dinner drink. Note the 3-day, month-end holiday; plan ahead so as not to miss an utterly charming dining experience.
