About

Australian Allan Watters relocated to Fiji and opened this cafe and restaurant, for which he imports the same fresh seafood he used to sell back home. Open for lunch, his roadside store doubles as a fish market and the Outer Reef Seafood Café, serving sandwiches, sashimi, and fish and chips. Or, if you don't mind feeling like someone sneaking into a 1920s speak-easy, follow the narrow passage to the Sandbar Restaurant, an alfresco dining patio and trendy bar. The specialty under the stars is a two-level stack of hot or cold crab, shrimp, oysters, mussels, scallops, and the Australian crustaceans known as Balmain bugs; it's big enough to serve two adults. Thick steaks cooked over a gas grill are very good. The Sandbar has live music on weekend nights, but forget coming here if it's raining.
