About

Racing in Tramore, County Waterford began in 1785 and was originally held on the beach. Always at the mercy of the elements however, the course was badly breached in 1911 and racing was moved to an alternative, safer, venue, Graun Hill, where racing continues to be enjoyed to this day.Following a €5 million redevelopment in 1997 to first rate standards, the Waterford and Tramore racecourse offers visitors a range of excellent facilities to enhance your racing pleasure, from great bars and restaurants to ample parking and a crèche to keep the little ones entertained. A mix of flat and jump races, the highlight of the calendar is the August Racing Festival, a four day extravaganza of thrilling races, style and socialising, with the energy and liveliness that comes from a crowd with a common aim, to have fun.And Tramore is all about fun. From the funfair and amusement parks to a splash around in the sea, it’s the perfect destination for your racing holiday.
