Established by the Maharaja of Travancore in 1857, the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is home to about 82 species from around the world, including lion-tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, Indian rhinoceros, Asiatic lion, royal Bengal tiger, and leopard. The zoo also houses a snake farm which exhibits both poisonous and non-poisonous snakes.
