About

The Tullawallal circuit is located in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park. This stunning national park covers 20,590 hectares and boasts extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, which allow visitors to explore the area's forests, creeks and waterfalls. Dramatic lookouts afford views over the Gold Coast, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales. Lamington is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, which includes the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world. Tullawallal contains the nearest small forest of Antarctic Beeches (Nothofagus moorei) to Binna Burra. The track passes through rainforest to the Coomera Seat Junction and on to the Tullawallal circuit to a small knoll on the Beechmont Range. The beech forest has a very different structure to the surrounding rainforest and is very interesting to botanists. There is also a small memorial plaque to Gus Kouskos, one of the Lamington National Park's most well liked and respected overseers. Be aware of leeches in summer, particularly after rain. The weather can change quickly so bring wet-weather gear and warm clothing. The altitude of Lamington National Park provides a great escape from the Summer heat, although winter walkers are rewarded with clear views and a lesened chance of rain and leeches.
