Vaigai Dam

Vaigai Dam is the central source of drinking and irrigation water for Madurai and hence of great strategic and political importance. Over the years, it has become a popular picnic spot, especially for group excursions. The area surrounding the dam is rich in vegetation, with lush greenery spread across its sprawling acres. Though the area lacks any official amenities for a proper picnic, you can always plan a laid back afternoon here.
