Vale of Tempe is a hilly area in the northern part of Penang Island. It got its name from the gorge in northern Thessaly, Greece, where in Greek mythology, was the favourite hunting ground of the god Apollo. The Vale of Tempe in Penang comprises the road, Jalan Lembah Permai, as it winds its way from Fettes Park to Tanjung Bungah. This is a hill road. The Guillemard Reservoir is access from here. The properties in Vale of Tempe includes the working class village of Pepper Estate surrounded by the upper middle class districts of Tanjung Bungah, Tanjong Tokong and Fettes Park.
