About

The late Victor Vasarely, internationally known father of op art, was born in the house that this museum now occupies, though he left early on for France. This is one of two museums in the country devoted solely to Vasarely's work (the other is in Óbuda). While Vasarely's fame was achieved abroad, Pécs proudly considers him as a native son. In addition to Vasarely's pieces the museum also displays the work of a few significant Hungarian artists whose work of geometric and kinetic styles are from the second part of the 20th century. Some international artists are also on display at different times.
