About

Watsons Bay is an ideal place to go if you have limited time to experience the magnificent Sydney Harbour. For a cheap ferry ride from Circular Quay wharf no. 4 one may experience amazing views of prestigious waterfront properties, sailing ships and the natural aspects of the harbour panorama all along the way. A tip for visitors - take a tourist map of Sydney Harbour so you may identify landmarks you see. Once you arrive at the Watson's Bay ferry wharf, explore by foot what was once a fisherman's village. Lunch is popular at Doyle's Cafe right on the wharf, at the Watson's Bay Hotel as you come off the wharf, or at Doyle's Restaurant on the beach. Many visitors to Watsons Bay go for a picturesque walk to the Gap, an infamous ocean cliff sadly known in former years for suicides. From the South Head Heritage Trail Walk (see below) you can see North Head and Manly - which are directly opposite -  and the city to the west. On this walk you will pass Lady Bay, one of 3 legally sanctioned nude bathing beaches on Sydney Harbour.

"don't leave it too late to hitch a ride back to circular quay or you could be in for a serious lineup on the wharf"
