Whale Watching

Whale watching in Trincomalee is a popular marine activity, especially along the east coast of Sri Lanka. The best time to spot whales is from May to October, when the sea is calm and visibility is high.

Visitors can often see blue whales (the largest animals on Earth), along with sperm whales, dolphins, and other marine life in the Indian Ocean. Boat tours usually start early in the morning from Nilaveli Beach or nearby harbors.

It is considered one of the best places in Sri Lanka for whale watching due to the deep waters close to the shore, increasing chances of sightings.
