About

The buildings of the Tallipiha stable yard date from the 1890s and were originally built as wagon and carriage sheds and stables for the Finlayson factory. The coachmen of the factory lived here. The buildings were probably designed by architect Lambert Petterson, who gave them a typical German look. After years of decay, these buildings have been restored to their original charm of the late nineteenth-century style. The little shops and workshops are open for customers all year round. Among them is the Dammenberg chocolate factory that makes delicious chocolates, following old recipes and methods of production. There is also the Tossuverstas shoemaker, where shoes are made with traditional cobbler's skills. Tytön Huivi sells beautiful silk scarves and you can also find many kinds of nice surprises at gift shop Vinkki-Vakka. It is very pleasant to sit in the Café Vatruska and drink a cup of coffee or traditional raspberry lemonade and try the home-made buns and sweets. The open hours change according to season, so it might be a good idea to ask for further details at the place itself.
