About

Riga Cathedral is the main Riga Lutheran cathedral, known for its Gothic architecture mixed with later styles as well as its the pipe organ that was once the biggest organ in Europe of nearly 7000 pipes. It's still played several times a week in concerts as well as recitals at noon in summer season. The huge square next to it was made to open up the view on this important church in 1930ies, and from the very beginning when it was designed and built as the main cathedral for Riga bishops and later archbishops, it has played an important role in the events of Riga history. There is an entrance fee if you wish to see it from inside, or you can book a ticket to a concert or come at noon to hear Concerto Piccolo. Except Sundays, which is the day for services not only in Latvian but also English and German languages.
