Ambrosía

About

Tucked behind the Casa Colorado Museum (enter the museum and cross the patio to get here), Ambrosía is a thoroughly modern and chic, family-run restaurant that would not be out of place in London or Manhattan. A quiet haven from the boisterous downtown streets outside, Ambrosía draws businessmen with furrowed brows, bejeweled ladies-who-lunch and museum weary travelers in equal measure. Young, boho chef Carolina Bazán has created a well conceived menu that is resolutely all things to all men, with an eclectic offering of Asian, Peruvian, French, and Italian dishes. The panko breaded shrimp or Thai spring roll appetizers inject an oriental note, while the ceviche is a more delicate precursor to classic entrees to the tune of lamb in mint sauce and salmon risotto. There are also fresh salads, and a few wild cards such as a BLT sandwich and a hummus pita. Ambrosía, true to its name, also offers a repertoire of heavenly desserts, including mousse and cheesecake renditions artfully swirled with fruity coulis. With its patio dining, this restaurant is ideal for summer days.
