Arany Szarvas

About

Based on the ancient traditional folk legend of the Golden Stag (Aranyszarvas) the front wall features a golden relief of the animal. The restaurant is situated in Buda, in the Taban park, just over Erzsebet Bridge. It's within walking distance of most of the major hotels but feels like a trip out of town. In summer the terrace is the best place to sit with a splendid view of the Taban park, the ancient buildings of the district and Buda Castle rising up behind. The guests include those who enjoy wild game dishes - especially those with hearty appetites. Most of the main dishes, fully garnished are priced reasonably. The wine list offers good Hungarian reds - for example a Bock cabernet. The food is heavy and meaty with wild boar and horseradish, pheasant or venison with mushrooms and red wine. If you have any room, finish with a banana split and then a jog in the park.
