About

Joe Lawler, founder of Architectural Furniture in Drogheda, County Louth, makes his own distinctive hand crafted furniture from Irish hard woods using traditional methods. A lot of what is made is designed for a particular customer, to suit their needs, unique to their size, height and width. Most of his designs are influenced by architectural forms and have a sculpture feel. Each piece is hand finished to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.Architectural Furniture run courses all year round for groups of 3 and more, for corporate and private, and one to one tuition for students. The classes would include detailed drawings which are easy understood. The skills the students are taught are hand tool skills –router/sander/drills etc. Under supervision band-saw and planer/bench saws are used. Using the different grades of sand paper and finish techniques. Architectural Furniture is part of the Louth Craftmark craft trail. Louth Craftmark is a network driven retail gallery outlet showcasing the collective work of talented designers and makers. Demonstrations and sessions are ran with Louth Craftmark where people can meet the maker.
