Avondale - Slí na Sláinte

The beginning of the walk is a 270m walk from the car park. The Avondale Slí walk begins at the front of Avondale House, turning left across the grass onto the Great Ride, a beautiful tree lined stretch covering your first km that leads you to the Stone Cairn. From this point the stunning view of the Avonmore Valley can be seen. Turning left onto the path, follow the Slí arrows until you reach your second km post. The route follows the track up the hill bringing Avondale House back into view. Take a right turn at this point to bring you pass the annex and wooden carved owl back to your starting point. The route has mixed woodland including broadleaved species like beech and oak and conifer species like Sitka spruce, Douglas fir, larches and pines.The route can be walked in either direction.
