Trieste has many such tavola caldi (hot-foods delis) like this one, though none compare to century-old Pepi, a much-beloved institution. You can get a panino of cold cuts or splurge on an 10€ ($13) platter of the house specialty, many varieties of pork: spicy cotechini (pork sausages), porchetta (roast pork), bollito di maiale (a Trieste dish of boiled pork), and prosciutto, all served with crauti (sauerkraut) and other vegetables.
