The Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana (CCMQ), originally Majestic Hotel is a historic building Brazilian and cultural center of the city of Porto Alegre , one of the largest and best equipped in the Brazil. The building, designed by architect German-Brazilian Theodor Wiederspahn , was the first major building in Porto Alegre which used reinforced concrete . Designed to fill both sides of the Lane Araújo Ribeiro has two large blocks interconnected bywalkways backed up by arcades and containing terraces , balconies and columns . The design of hotel luxury , built by businessman Horacio de Carvalho, was considered very daring at the time, because the idea of suspended walkways over a public way was unheard of then.
