About

The Cos Cos Sean Nós Festival celebrates the oldest Irish traditional art forms in dance, music and song. From outdoor door dancing to village pageants, it encourages strong artist audience interaction. The festival brings young and old together. There are performances and workshops by leading artists and tutors in Sean Nós dancing, singing, lilting, jews harp, bodhrán and bones and story telling. The range of concerts and sessions is vast. The idea is that the local community and visitors can share an authentic Irish experience. In Irish, sean nós means 'old style'. The festival was devised by the Cos Cos dance group in Sligo (cos cos means 'foot foot' in Irish). Their love of the traditional art forms helped inspire the development of a festival which is now into its eighth year. In addition to dance and music events, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities which explore the locality and its rich local heritage. One of the new additions is a unique pageant depicting the Saint Colmcille story in Drumcliffe. This will, again, form a central part of the 2014 programme.
