About

The country's most well-known contemporary dance company, Danish Dance Theatre (DDT) dropped the 'new' from its name several years ago, proving that modern dance is now a well established part of the Danish arts scene. Established back in 1981, the company now enjoys international acclaim. After a career which included dancing with the Royal Danish Ballet, British dancer and choreographer Tim Rushton took over as artistic director of DDT in 2001, playing with the gap between classical and modern dance. After a number of years at Folketeatret, DDT have recently relocated to the new DANSEhallerne. Attracting elite dancers from all over the world, each year they treat audiences to a taster of their most popular pieces at the popular open air spring and summer dance performances.
