Dominó (no relation to the US-based pizza chain) is not so much a sandwich shop as an institution. There are several locations around the city (and around the country), but this one in the center is where it all started. The restaurant has been around since the 50s, and their thing is sandwiches. They slap piles of meat, vegetables, and a giant layer of avocado to create Chilean classics such as the completo, which is a hot dog served on a bun with avocado, tomato and a healthy stripe of mayonnaise. They also serve churrasco, lomito and mechada, three different kinds of meat generally served on "pan frica" (a bun), with as much or as little cheese, avocado, tomatoes, cooked stringbeans and mayonnaise as you'd like. They do a grilled turkey sandwich as well, and will be happy to accomodate vegetarians with queso fresco (a soft, fresh cheese) and whatever topings you desire. The restaurant is fast-paced, with the waiters shouting out to the line-cooks and them shoulting back, about the sandwiches they serve, giving it a very diner-like feel. And the juices are an institution as well, with tuna (prickly pear cactus juice) being a perennial favorite.
