El Arbol is a relaxing, informal restaurant on a side street in Providencia, not far from the Salvador metro. They have a daily lunch special with soup, salad, juice and dessert, all of it garden-fresh. The restaurant itself is cozy and slightly hippie, and fills up at lunch. A recent lunch special included gnocchi with red sauce served piping hot in a bowl, along with a small salad, and a glass of orange juice. Seating is either on the first floor outside patio, or upstairs. Grab a table by the window for the best light. Service is good, but you may wait a while when the restaurant is particularly full, usually from about 1-3 PM on weekdays. Pizzas looked tasty and get rave reviews, and they have a decent vegan selection of goods. Downstairs they sell some baked goods, teas and coffees to take home and prepare.
