Previously known as the Fortress city or Gharapuri, the Elephanta Island is located 11 km away from Colaba market. It houses the famous Elephant Caves with beautiful sculptures and carvings, and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Elephanta Isaland is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is visited by thousands of visitors all the year round.
