About

As part of a health food shop, the Elethaz or 'Life House' is a small dining room off-shoot, offering good quality whole-food meals and organic ingrdients. The interior is all brown wood and rather serious and worthy. The room has eight tables, decorated with bamboo placemats, white candles and miniature baskets of dried flowers. New age, spiritual art hangs on the walls and soothing music plinks and plonks, filling the entire shop. Meals come in three sizes: Small, medium and large. You can also choose a soup or dessert. The menu is chalked up daily in Hungarian. Combination plates include kohlrabi stew and a grilled piece of grain bread, a mix of yellow beans and parsnip chunks in a creamy, peppered sauce with a grainy breaded patty or curried cabbage stew with fried potatoes and a pickled salad. Indian lecso (a mix of tomatoes, peppers and onions) with rice and a fried wheat patty is wholesome and filing as is the vegetable and grain casserole with a mixed s alad. Wash it down with herb tea or fruit juice and leave revived.
