Fishing at South Mole

South Mole, Perth WA, Australia

About

South Mole is, if you like, the poorer cousin of North and never seems to fish as well. From South, herring and gardies are your main target and the old timers like to fish here for them because the rocks are safer and less people are about. Herring and gardies are the most popular fish in the area because they're the easiest to catch. Mornings is the best time but afternoons work almost as well. Fishing during the midday sun is rarely worthwhile. Use a berley cage on your rig which a pollard and oil based berley and you can keep them around for hours. During winter, big silver trevally (skippy) come on the bite during those cold winter winds and can be accompanied by big tarwhine.
