About

Just south of the cathedral, this restaurant's stone facade is almost hidden on a small villagelike street. A grape arbor shelters the front terrace, where in summer tables are set out for relaxed eating and drinking. The cuisine includes Balkan bean soup, boiled beef, mutton chops, and roast beef in a cream-and-onion sauce. More exotic specialties include moussaka, fried mincemeat loaf with pickled peppers, and Dalmatian steak with rice and stuffed cabbage. Stuffed eggplant and venison steak are other popular dishes, along with a catchall specialty called the Balkan platter. The staff speaks very little English.
