The Gedung Kesenian Jakarta was established during the Dutch Colonial era, as a sociteit de militaire where the Dutch elite could mingle and dance. Since 1825, however, the classic colonial building has functioned as a theater. The building's outstanding acoustics make it the perfect venue for music performances, although dance and theater are also presented here. A total of 450 seats are available in the auditorium and balcony.
