This has long been considered one of the best restaurants in Ushuaia, having built an award-winning reputation on its superb cuisine and lovely view. Lately, portions have become smaller and prices bigger. The menu is brief, but the offerings are delicious. Don't start your meal without ordering a sumptuous appetizer of king crab wrapped in a crepe and bathed in saffron sauce. Main courses include seafood, beef, and chicken; sample items include tenderloin beef in a plum sauce or a subtly flavored sea bass steamed in parchment paper. The extensive gourmet wine list ranges in price from $14 to $58 (£9.45-£39); there's also wine by the glass. Finish it all off with a sorbet in a frothy champagne sauce. Kaupé's dining area is cozy, and candlelit tables exude romance.
