Kashivisvesvara Temple was constructed during 8th century and is believed to be one of the last temples of early Chalukyan architectural style in the Pattadakkal region. The ancient shrine was constructed by the Rashtrakutas in the Nagara architectural style. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a Nandi Mantapa , where an image of Shiva's Vahana(vehicle) Nandi can be seen. The temple is built on a raised platform with five mouldings that are embellished with beautiful carvings of horses, lions, elephants, peacocks and other animals.
