About

One of the finest choices for dining in Heidelberg is in the ground-floor wing of this deluxe hotel. The wood-paneled grill room is attractively decorated with provincial furnishings -- real Old Heidelberg with coffered ceilings, wood paneling, and lots of nostalgic kitsch. The menu is in English, but the cuisine is mainly French, with both fixed-price and a la carte meals. Only the highest quality seasonal ingredients are used. Dishes are creative, refined, and balanced, as evoked by such main courses as grilled filet of turbot with crayfish, grilled filets of sole on a ragout of artichokes and bell pepper, or saddle of lamb poached in pinot noir with a chorizo-and-potato ragout. Another good dish is filet of pikeperch on fresh green asparagus with a saffron risotto and champagne risotto. The wine list is the most impressive in town.
