This monument is the only one in the world marking a criminal arrest site. It is located about ten kilometres out of Howick on a route called The Meander. It marks the site where Nelson Mandela was arrested on the 5th of August in 1962 by Sgt Vorster who worked for the Pietermaritzburg police.
