The Manneken Pis restaurant is a relatively new venture and the first to offer authentic Belgian cooking in Bali. It has a bright and elegant interior and a pretty al fresco front dining terrace. Well known Belgian dishes such as waterzooi—a thick, creamy broth of chicken and vegetables—and es cargots in mornay sauce are highlights of a truly international menu. Mexican fajitas, pasta and French Chateaubriand steaks offer sufficient choice for all tastes; there is also a good selection of grilled seafood presented in both Indonesian and Mediterranean style. Service is eager and attentive without being overbearing, and diners can enjoy live jazz and blues twice a week. Manneken Pis opens until 1am. Reservations highly recommended. - Ray Montgomery
