Calgary's love affair with Japanese cuisine can be seen in the proliferation of Japanese restaurants in every quadrant of the city. Muku's Japanese Noodle House, which opened in the northwest Kensington area in October 2008, raised the bar and boasted the only ramen house in Calgary. Muku's specialty ramen and wonton wraps come all the way from Japan. The noodles and dumplings take center stage and come served on top of bowls of steaming chicken or pork stock, then are garnished with green onions, slivers of beef and pork, young corn, and pickled ginger. There are also appetizers and sukiyaki beef for those who need more nourishment. Call ahead for hours of operation.
