Nilagrad River is popular because of its reddish water. As per a common belief, the red-water of this river is known to have curative-medicinal properties. Hence, people come every Sunday here, in large numbers to bathe in the river. The river further merges with the Indus River at the Baltic Colony. Sonamarg is well connected with nearby places such as Srinagar and Jammu via buses.
