nyahururu town is located approximately 200kms from nairobi,the town drive its name from the spectacular thomson fall which is situated 200m from the town on the mouth of ewaso nyiro river, which flow its water from the top of mount kenya, the longest river in kenya, of course nyahururu is a masai word meaning[ the falling water] among the beautiful sites that,any tourist can visit in this area, the diminishing lake olobrosat which is also a bird watching paradise, my prelimenary reasearch indicated that the lake,is threatened by robust use of nitrogen and phosphrus fertalizers by the farmers sarrounding this lake, during the heavy rain the chemicals are water washed and drained in this lake, which inturn trigger the tremendous growth of vegetation, which reduced drastically the level of the water, you can also view the hippopotamus,in their natural habitant,kenya wild life service center located 5km from the town along nyahururu,nyeri highway isan intresting site to visit, here you will have a chance to view the biggest mammal in the world the elephant,and also lakipia,forest can be assed from this center,accomondation is pleanty in this historic town which is growing fast due to its strategic location,in term of efficient transport system which include railway line, faverouble climatic condation which favour farming and food production hence making it a destation of choice to agricultural oriented tourist,thomson fall lodge located at the heart of thomson fall is the most prominent hotel that you can visit it meet all the international starndard which include a well established casinos buffe ,bars self contain rooms heated swimming pool traditional hot food,if your looking for a romantic town to visit nyahururu town is a place to be .
