About

Patio Bellavista (El Patio), is a smallish urban mini-shipping center with a few exits, many good restaurants and some dozen quality handicraft sellers all together in a walled complex with connected underground parking at the entrance of the Bellavista neighborhood. When you walk into the Patio, you may not be quite sure where you are. The handicrafts (tooled leather, carved wood, enameled copper, lapiz lazuli, penguins, moais carved of stone, and quite a bit of silverwork) are Chilean, but the overall feel is a bit more North American. There are many restaurants with outdoor seating, an excellent ice cream shop, great places to buy gifts and even guidebooks and postcards, which is great for night owls that forgot to do their shopping earlier on. an Aadjoingin hotel means you never have to leave the area if you're feeling like a homebody. There are also a number of venues that have live music or small theater productions inside, as well the occasional concert or dance performance in the Patio itself, which you can check out on their website. The area fills with locals and Chileans alike most nights of the week, but particularly on Thursday night through Sunday afternoon. It is very safe, but in the crowds that form, you'd do well to keep an eye on your belongings.
