Rathaus

About

The remarkable historic town hall is situated approximately 10 km from Innsbruck, in the center of the old city of Hall, Tyrol. It is found directly on Oberer Stadtplatz. The former city castle once belonged to the count Heinrich of Görz-Tyrol. He himself named it "King's House". The building has served as the town hall since 1406 when Duke Leopold IV gave it as a gift to the city of Hall. The building consists of two parts. The western side is taken up by the Oberer Stadtplatz; the west wing houses the splendid grand hall and is now a popular venue for wedding ceremonies. The easterly section is embellished with a huge renaissance-style stone portal. For those traveling by car, there is underground parking at the Stadtgraben and Unterer Stadtplatz.
