Ristorante Tullio

Via San Nicola da Tolentino 26 Cuisines: Italian

About

Established in 1945, this longtime favorite was once a dining citadel for Hollywood luminaries such as Henry Fonda and Clark Gable. It was never fancy, really a standard trattoria with cotton tablecloths and wooden chairs. But it quickly became known for its food, including its mozzarella which became famous. The menu is always kept simple and limited, but it reflects whatever is best in any season -- perhaps truffles and mushrooms in the fall. Savor some of its specialties such as bread soup with beans and black cabbage, mushroom salad with celery and cheese, or sliced beef grilled and garnished with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese. The location is in the center of Rome just off Piazza Barberini.
