I find that San Giuliano offers a superbly cooked and extensive menu, It is based mainly on Italian cuisine but with the occasional Maltese twist. The service is generally excellent as is the wine list. It is not cheap but worth every cent. The view of Spinola Place and St Julians Bay during both lunch or dinner is lovely. Earlyish lunch on a sunny winter's day entails peeling the layers and soaking up the sun. The restaurant is built over one of the two 17th century boathouse that flanked the walkway up to the lovely little palace built for the Bailiff Fra Rafael Spinola, a Genoese aristocrat and highranking knight of the Order of St John of Jerusalem Rhodes and Malta. The palace and the area still bear his name to this very day.
