This is a soaring Roman Catholic Church, located between Marina Beach andKapaleeshwarar Temple. The Portuguese originally built San Thome Cathedral in 1504; later in 1893, they rebuilt it in neo-Gothic style. The basement of this church is a chapel, which houses the tomb of St Thomas the Apostle or Doubting Thomas, the saint who is believed to bring Christianity in India in the 1st century.
