About

Cafés in downtown Santiago that are open at night can be hard to come by. Some of them close up early, and a couple have truly lackluster coffee. But downtown is undergoing a revitalization, and part of that includes the opening of cafés catering to an international clientele, including those that are waiting for caffeine-starved travelers at any time of the day. Enter Terrakota. It's a cute, medium-sized café with giant plate glass windows, a checkered floor and good service. The menu consists of the typical cortado (like a small latte) and other coffee options, and also has tea, but clearly the star of the menu is the excessively whip-creamed mocha, pictured in the feature photo. They also have a good selection of tea and keep the place toasty warm in winter. The café also receives people from a hop-on-hop off bus tour, but never gets terribly crowded.
