About

Tinderbox Marine Reserve is at the end of the peninsula in the Derwent River beyond Kingston and Blackman's Bay, south of Hobart. It is the ideal place for snorkellers to explore the ledges and crevices in a rocky reef in the Derwent Estuary. To the north, the reef is wider and extends into deeper water. Fish, including leatherjackets and wrasse, are common on the reef, and among the kelp one may find a big-bellied seahorse or an octopus. 9.00 hour every Sunday from the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre, Corner of Elizabeth and Davey Streets, Hobart , return 16.00 hours.
