On this particular Davie Street block, there are a number of sushi joints that offer affordable prices and pretty decent sushi. Yamato is always busy with people eating in, and taking out, so you know that what you're getting is going to be fresh because they have such a high turnover. The inside offers very limited seating and isn't ideal for groups of more than two people. Take-out is very quick and your order will usually be ready in 15 minutes. There are a number of different rolls you can get, from simple maki to extravagant and inventive rolls. The Spicy Tuna is filled with fresh chunks of albacore tuna, their own spicy sauce (with no mayo) and little pieces of tempura batter to give it a bit of crunch. At your request, you can also choose to upgrade to brown rice and wild salmon.
