Zully

Concha y Toro 34

About

Chic yet true to the utterly charming, historical Concha y Toro neighborhood in which it is located, Zully is one of those places travelers delight in discovering. Brimming with architectural flair and suffused with a historical aura, Zully was once home to Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro. Spread over four floors of a lovingly restored old mansion, each of Zully's four dining rooms features whimsical decor, with trendy murals, halogen lights, white leather stools, and inviting chaise longues. There's also an interior patio on the ground floor and a wine-tasting cellar. While the menu is ostensibly Chilean, the chef continually fine-tunes the seasonal offerings by adding inventive fusion-style dishes that are not generally as consistent as the more purist fish and meat dishes -- the seared Easter Island tuna or seafood risotto will not disappoint. The recent addition of a sushi bar and jazz lounge has only served to increase Zully's hipster credentials. While the terrace, unfortunately, is only open to parties of 20 or more, it's worth asking if you can pop up there to get a good view of the city. It's best to take a taxi here at night because it's a walk from the Metro.
