Housed in a white-and-peach building opposite Mozart's birthplace, Zum Eulenspiegel sits at one end of a quiet cobblestone square in the Old Town. Inside, guests have a choice of five rooms on three different levels, all rustically but elegantly decorated. You really can pick where you want to sit, so feel free to look around if all the tables aren't full. A small and rustic bar area on the ground floor is a pleasant place for predinner drinks. Traditional Austrian cuisine is meticulously adhered to here. The menu features such classic dishes as tafelspitz, Wiener schnitzel, braised trout with dill-flavored potatoes, filet of pork with warm cabbage salad and bacon, and, for dessert, Salzburger Nockerln or peaches with hot fudge and vanilla ice cream.
