The Carlow Arts Festival (known locally as Eigse) chalks up its 35th year as one of Ireland's most anticipated cultural carnivals. Whether it be a large scale exhibition in the colossal VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, or the theatre programme at the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, or the fireworks display exploding over the River Barrow, or indeed the infamous Borris House Festival of Writing of Ideas, or the unique History Festival of Ireland, the entire County of Carlow comes alive for ten consecutive days in June.
