Edmond's Factory Garden

Phillipstown

About

This small garden, not far from the inner-city, working-class suburb of Phillipstown, has a special place in the hearts of older Christchurch folk. It was formerly the site of the Edmond's Factory. Edmond's produced baking products under the slogan "Sure to rise", and published its own cookbook--a standard text in New Zealand kitchens, even today. The garden was an award winner in its heyday during the 1960s and 1970s. The immaculate gardens with perfectly-manicured lawns and the factory building itself, have gone, but there is still a pleasant garden here to enjoy. A fountain and pond are features, as well as interesting displays about the history of the garden and the old factory.
