Orca

57 Nahalat Binyamin Cuisines: French

About

With a chic, contemporary setting and an exciting menu by Chef Eric Stroitman, whose resume includes the Cordon Bleu and training in prestigious French and Israeli restaurants, Orca is one of the most popular and highly praised luxury dining spots in Tel Aviv. There are small tapas served at the bar until very late hours and an ever-changing menu that's heavy on seafood and fish. Everything is original and filled with beautiful flavor and texture combinations. Most famous is Stroitman's fabulously rich appetizer of a large ravioli filled with goat cheese and crab meat, served with a whole egg yolk; other signature appetizers include fried mussel salad; foie gras brûlée; and squid stuffed with bulgur wheat with a hyssop wrapping. Among main courses, look for seafood fettuccini in a fisherman sauce with poppy seeds; entrecôte with truffle gnocchi; and fresh sea fish filet on a delicately roasted eggplant with tarragon yogurt. The house bread is terrific, and the homemade truffle spread with crostini is a wonderful late-night tapa. Desserts are always surprising and rewarding. There's a well-stocked bar. Late-night bar offerings include such treats as oxtail and bone marrow salad, fresh oysters on ice (in season), and spareribs.
