Tololo Beach

Av. del Mar 5200 Cuisines: Seafood

About

If you want to dine on fresh seafood with the sand between your toes, this is the place. The varied menu has plenty of local seafood entrees, including a good selection of native fish like albacore and rollizo that you won't often find elsewhere, omelets, meat dishes, and pizzas. They don't serve salmon, a farmed fish that has to be trucked in from hundreds of miles away. You can sit amid small palms right on the beach, but the most pleasant and comfortable seating is on the slightly oriental-style terrace, where you can rest your spine against the tall, leather-backed chairs and watch the pelicans dive into the Pacific against the backdrop of La Serena's port neighbor, Coquimbo. You can charge your cellphone for free in the individual lockers near the door.
